Email marketing has enabled me to make a full time living solely off the internet. Whenever I want to make more I simply put an offer together and send out a nicely written email. And despite what you think, it's not as complicated as others make it out to be. You definitely don't need an email writing tutorial because I'm about to tell you how to write emails that sell. Period.
Here are 4 rules that'll tell you what you need to do...
Email Writing Rule #1 - Don't feel as though you have to sell with every email you send out.
No matter how well you've written your email, if every message was a promotion then expect unsubscribes and a lot of spam complaints. You're in the business of providing and showing that you can provide real value and that you're the one people should turn to for advice. Prove it. Give out free content, write blog posts, hand out reports, give access to your low-paid products. People need to see that you're the real deal. Afterall you're not the only person in their inbox with a product to sell!
Email Writing Rule #2 - Write specific and strong subject lines
When you look into your inbox, the first thing you notice is 'what a mess'. Help your subscribers distinguish what's what by keeping the format of your subject lines consistent and leaving clues as to what's inside the email. For example if I've written a new blog post with test results of an experiment I did, my subject would be [BLOG POST] Split Test Results (8.7% conversion using this headline...). From there your subscriber will know what your email is about without even having to open it.
Email Writing Rule #3 - Keep your emails clean, concise and to the point.
Much like the way I write, if I have something to say I'll say it in as few words as possible. After all who likes to read through super long emails when only a couple of sentences are important information? I still like to send out emails in plain text format without HTML elements so it can get through to the maximum amount of subscribers. On top of that I like to format my emails 40-50 characters across. This helps to block off your paragraphs and sentences to make it easy to read.
Email Writing Rule #4 - Tell them where to go.
When you're sending out a promotion email, you need to have a call to action and a link to get them to go where you want. I personally like to send promotion emails with content first and then a strong call to action later. This way I'm educating my reader and giving them strong reasons why they should click the link within my email. When they visit my site they already have a good idea of why they're there and this helps conversions. Compare this with other marketers who'll write literally a few words and then a link. No wonder their click-throughs are so low and their refund rates are so high!
Learning how to write emails that sell effectively is not hard when you understand the bigger picture. The email themselves is not what sells. It's you that they buy into. Establishing trust, credibility and consistency shows that you put your subscriber's needs first - not yours. This applies to all niches - no matter what you're selling. No email writing tutorial can teach you this.
In my 47 page report I discuss how I generated $2490.24 in 24 hours promoting a resell rights product to my list. Click here to download it and you'll receive an exact copy of the email I used and the product I promoted.
